He was After a short stint as a auto/tractor mechanic while living in Fowler, Kansas, Byron spent his entire career as an aircraft mechanic while working for Piedmont Airlines from which he retired (1948 - 1989). He acquired his initial aircraft maintenance experience while in the Navy where he repaired carrier based aircraft returning from action in the Pacific action of World War II. between 1948 and 1984. He moved at Forsyth County, NC, in September 1948 Moved to rental house on Vance Road (Wade Linville's farm) near Kernersville. He moved at Walkertown, Forsyth County, NC, in September 1958 Moved into house on Rocklane Drive that Byron spent a number of years building in his spare time. He died on 2 June 2009 at Walkertown, Forsyth County, NC, at age 90; Died unexpectedly while working in his yard. He was buried at Morris Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, Walkertown, Forsyth County, NC.
