     There was a large family of Moads who moved with the Linvilles from Campbell Co, TN. The head of the Moad family was James Moad who was born in Scotland. James had nine children with a son Thomas. (James was possibly William Sr.s father or William Sr. could have been a William James or James William.) Rebecca Linville was born on 23 March 1798 at Cove Creek area, Wilkes County, NC; One reference for her husband's family gives her birth place a Rutherford County, NC but this seems highly unlikely. The family was living in the Cove Creek area of western North Carolina at the time and in the process of moving to land that eventually became located in Campbell County, TN. As of circa 1814,her married name was Rebecca Pauley. She married William Pauley Jr., son of William Pauley Sr. and Margaret Munsey, circa 1814 at Campbell County, TN. As of 14 November 1820,her married name was Rebecca Moad. Rebecca Linville married James W. Moad on 14 November 1820 at Ray County, MO. Rebecca Linville and James W. Moad appeared on the census of 1850 at Cole County, MO. Rebecca Linville died on 5 September 1856 at Cole County, MO, at age 58. She was buried at Elston Cemetery, Elston, Cole County, MO.

     Rev. John Linville was born on 29 April 1800 at Campbell County, TN. Oregon Donation Land Claims and his wife's family record provide date and place of birth. His father's Henderson and Company grant was located in Anderson County, TN at the time, but became Campbell County, TN in 1806.. He acquired Rev. John Linville on in 1821; John filed several Clay Co. Original Land Grants, beginning in 1821. He, his father and brother Granville all owned a good portion of land in Township 50 North, Range 32 West, page 8 of the first plat book for that county. Some of the land crossed the river at Kansas City, MO near present day Randolph. The bulk of it was just north of Randolph on both sides of present day I-469 and included Claymont Gardens, Hollywood Acres, Hill Haven suburb, and probably "Worlds of Fun". He married Nancy Yewell Jameson, daughter of William Jameson and Margaret McKnight, on 8 December 1825 at St. Louis County, MO; Nancy's first marriage. Rev. John Linville was Cumberland Presbyterian minister. He died on 25 April 1844 at Platte County, MO, at age 43; Died of "preacher's throat".
