Agnes Linvill was also known as Agnes Lindvil. She was born circa 1730 at probably Conestoga, Lancaster County, PA,It is presumed she is the daughter of John and Ann (----) Linvill who were the only couple of child-bearing age living in the, then, western part of PA at the time of her birth and near where she was married in 1756. More importantly, the location of Agnes at the time of her marriage also fits with the location of potential sisters Ann (Linvill) Hendricks and Lydia (Linvill) Richey Mearns, the latter of whom named a daughter Agnes. If she was not their daughter, she could easily have been a granddaughter – child of John’s oldest son Thomas who was starting a family in the same vicinity in the early 1730s. He, though, left the area about 1733 and continued moving south along the Shenandoah and then to North Carolina by the time she was married. However, one way this could be possible is if she came back from North Carolina to stay with aunts Ann and Lydia and then met her future husband and stayed in the north. Regardless, she seems clearly to belong to this branch of the Linvills rather than to John’s brother, Thomas’s family. They were settled 40 miles to the east still at the original Penn’s Colony location and didn’t move any closer to where Agnes was by 1756. As of 1755,her married name was Agnes Hindman. She married David Hindman on 16 August 1756 at York County?, PA. Agnes Linvill died between 1802 and 1806 at Alleghany townhip, Westmoreland County, PA.

Alyee Linvill was born circa 1722 probably at Conestoga, PA. As of between 1722 and 1805, Alyee Linvill was also known as Alice Linville. As of circa 1740,her married name was Alyee Bryan. She married Joseph Bryan, son of Morgan Bryan and Martha Strode, between 1740 and 1746 at Linville Creek, Frederick County, VA, Date is assumed from years of birth of children, depending on which children were Alyee's. Joseph Bryan bought Linville Creek, VA land from Alyee's brother, William, 20 Aug 1746, so presumably they were married by then, particularly since the two Linville brothers left the area a year later and Joseph and Alyee remained there until 1755. Alyee's husband, Joseph Bryan acquired 500 acres on at Linville Creek, Augusta County, VA, on 20 August 1746. This seems likely to be about the time they were married. Joseph and Alice Bryan sold the 500 acres on Linville Creek on on 3 January 1755 which had been acquired from William Linville. Alyee Linvill died after 4 March 1805 at Jefferson County, KY.

Maria Anna Christina Stephens was born circa 1716 at Germany. She married John Linvill, son of John Linvill and Ann (?), on 3 May 1736 at Shenandoah Valley, Frederick County, VA; Although no specific marriage was obviously recorded for them, Stoever noted that he married two English couples on Opeckon (sic) in the presence of Lord Fairfax (who was visiting the colony at the time) on 3 May 1736. One of them might have been John and Anna Christina by virtue of the birth of their child, Lewis nine months later 20 Feb 1737 (Research assistance by Daniel W. Bly, Prof. of History, Bridgewater College, VA.) The second one conceivably could have been John's brother William marrying Elenaor Bryan, given the stature of the presence of Lord Fairfax and the prominence of her father Morgan Bryan. As of 3 May 1737,her married name was Maria Christina Linvill. Maria Anna Christina Stephens and John Linvill lived on 7 August 1750 at North side of Collins' River, SC. Maria Anna Christina Stephens died after 27 August 1777 at VA? She last appears on an affidavit when she acknowledged selling the Fairfax Grant of 260 acres she bought from Thomas Taylor to her brother, Lewis Stephens. It was originally surveyed by George Washington, Esq., for Solomon Carpenter 15 April 1751 and was called "Rough Bottom," in Hampshire County, VA (now Hardy Co., WV). Lewis Stephens then sold the land 8 Sept 1777 to John Young.

  1. While her full German name, was likely Maria Anna Christina, her father's will calls her Maria Christina, the Stoever baptism records to which she was a sponsor calls her Anna Christian, and she refers to herself in later documents as Christina Linvill.

Dinah Richards was baptized on 9 June 1706 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chester, Delaware County, PA, as a "youth," along with her brother Edward and another brother, not named. We only know of her sons, based on their tax records, but it is possible daughters were born before the sons since she married in 1714 and the earliest a son was born, based on them turning 21 to be taxed, would have been 1720. As of 9 February 1713/14,her married name was Dinah Linvill. She married Thomas Linvill, son of Richard Linvill and Mary Hart, on 9 February 1713/14 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chester, Chester County, PA. Dinah Richards died between 23 June 1733 and 29 December 1739 at Chichester, Chester, Chester County, PA; She does not appear on a land record with husband Thomas Linvill which was executed 30 Dec 1739 although she participated in granting the mortgage on 23 Jun 1733. Presumably, she died between those dates.
